The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival is a four-day natural
resource education event held in September to celebrate the return of wild
salmon to the Wenatchee River. The Festival is held on the grounds of the
Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery, located at the mouth of the scenic Icicle
Canyon near the Bavarian city of Leavenworth, Washington.
Students from schools throughout north central Washington visit the Festival
during special school days. On Saturday and Sunday the event attracts thousands
of visitors from the northwest and Canada.
The Festival brings people, natural resources, education, entertainment and
science together in a non-commercial, non-political package that connects people
to nature.
Since its 1991 inception, the Festival has remained true to its natural resource
education mission while updating and augmenting activities to keep the messages
fresh, timely and engaging. The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival is nationally
recognized for its educational excellence.
The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival is hosted by the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery and the Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forest, with the help of other "spawnsors" and boosters. Vist their links below.
